Good illumination is half the battle when imaging a weld. Between the arc's extreme brightness and the surrounding shadow, even the best cameras struggle without a properly engineered light source. That is why we built the RocketWelder Illumination System — and it is coming soon in two versions.

Two Versions, One Purpose

  • DIN Rail — designed to drop straight into an industrial cabinet, alongside your PLCs and power supplies. Clean integration, no extra enclosure.
  • Desktop — standalone unit for the bench, training cells, and mobile setups. Plug it in and go.

GMAW — Carbon Steel, 200 A Short-Arc

S235JR carbon steel, 4.5 mm butt joint, 200 A short-arc transfer, Stel S400 + F40 power source. The arc, the pool, and the surrounding plate are all visible in a single exposure — no blown highlights, no crushed shadows.

GTAW — Carbon Steel, 150 A with Filler

Same illumination unit, completely different process. TIG on carbon steel, 150 A, butt joint, filler wire feeding into the pool — captured from the face side. The high dynamic range you get with proper illumination is what makes both GMAW and GTAW workable from a single camera setup.
